Jaguar Land Rover India has announced that the XE and XF model range will be powered by an Ingenium petrol engine. This engine is lightweight and made up of aluminium, claims the company. It will replace the ageing 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which has been present for almost a decade in India.
The 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine will be offered in two states of tune – 197 HP/320 Nm and 247 HP/365 Nm. The XE Pure, XE Prestige and the XF Prestige trims are offered with 197 BHP powertrain, while the range-topping XE Portfolio and XF Portfolio gets the 247 HP powerplant, marginally more than the 240 BHP engine to be phased-out.
Both the engines have been developed in-house to enhance the vehicle dynamics and reduce weight. This engine was first introduced in the Range Rover Velar, launched here in February. It will also be powering the India bound Range Rover Evoque convertible, scheduled for launch this-month.
The Ingenium powered Jaguar XE will be available at Rs. 35.99 lakh, while the XF will come at a price of Rs. 49.80 lakh. Both will see a decrease in price from the earlier models. Jaguar also claims that there will be an improvement in fuel-efficiency by 15 percent on both these cars.
