Indian Roadmaster launched in India – 1.8-litre V-twin engine, from Rs. 37 lakh

US-based legendary motorcycle manufacturers, Indian Motorcycle, now owned by Polaris Industries, has launched the 2015 Roadmaster in India at a price of Rs. 37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price however is set to vary depending on the colour scheme you opted for. It is imported to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is the most expensive Indian motorcycle on sale in India.

The Indian Roadmaster shares the iconic Thunder Stroke 111 engine from the Chief range. Being an 1811cc, air-cooled, V-Twin motor, it is tuned to generate a maximum torque output of 139Nm of, and owners can customise it with a ‘Big Sucker’ intake which improves the cruiser’s performance and throttle response. The bike comes with a 6-speed gearbox, which is further connected to the rear wheel via a toothed belt drive on the right side of the motorcycle.

Talking about features, the Roadmaster comes equipped with push-button start/stop, heated seat, heated grips, all LED lights, remote locking saddlebags, 37.6 gallons of weatherproof storage, LED lights, keyless ignition, tan leather seats, ABS, cruise control, a power windshield, heated leather seats, heated grips, adjustable floorboards and a 200w stereo system with AM/FM, bluetooth and Smartphone compatibility.

Instrument console consists of an electronic speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, dual tripmeters, display for average speed, distance, time, instantaneous and average fuel economy, fuel range, clock, compass, ambient air temperature, gear position, tyre pressures and battery voltage among others. Braking is carried out by ABS-equipped dual disc brakes up front and a single disc brake at rear.

The 2015 Roadmaster is available in thunder black, Indian Motorcycle red and a two-tone Indian Motorcycle red/ivory cream paint schemes. And is at exclusive company dealerships in Gurgaon, Haryana and Bangalore. Indian Motorcycle is also preparing to inaugurate its first showroom in Mumbai soon.

The Roadmaster is the fourth offering from the Indian Motorcycle in India, and will now be on-sale alongside the Scout, the Chief Classic, the Chief Vintage and the Chieftain. With five motorcycle line-up, it is evident that Indian Motorcycle is taking its expansion plans in India quite seriously. The Roadmaster is the company’s first motorcycle to be launched in India, this year.
