Hyundai Motor India recently unveiled their much-awaited compact SUV, the Venue in India. The Venue was showcased at around the same time as that of the 2019 New York International Auto Show. As per reports, Hyundai will be launching the Venue on Tuesday 21 May, 2019.

The Hyundai Venue is the production version of the Hyundai HND-14,’Carlino’ concept from 2016 Auto Expo.

The Venue is derived from the Carlino concept that Hyundai showcased during the 2014 Auto Expo. Earlier codenamed the Qxi, the Venue was spotted numerous times undergoing testing on Indian roads. It will be based on Hyundai’s global SUV line-up, which includes the ix25 (Creta), Santa Fe and the Palisade.

On design, the Venue carries forward a cascading grille up front, having chrome cladding on it and split headlamps. The rear features boxy LED tail-lamps and projector fog lamps. It looks more like a scaled-down version of the Creta mid-size SUV.

The interiors have a dual-tone theme of black with silver accents on it. The main talking point of the Venue’s interior is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features an USB port, a 12V charging socket and an in-built navigation system to name a few.

Once launched, it will compete with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.

Engine-wise, the Venue will be available with three options, namely a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbocharged motor. While the other two produce power outputs of 83 BHP and 90 BHP, the turbocharged motor delivers 120 BHP of power along with 172 Nm of torque. It will be offered with options of a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed automatic one.

Prices are expected to begin from Rs. 8 lakh and go all the way to the Rs. 12 lakh mark for the top trims. When launched, the Venue will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport. Hyundai will hope that the positive sales of the Creta will rub on the Venue when it gets launched.
