Hyundai India has been toying around with the idea of a hatchback based crossover for some time now, recently the company revealed that the SUV-styled car will be called ‘i20 Active’ by the time it goes on-sale in the Indian market in the month of March-2015.
The i20 Active marks Global debut in India in March-2015.
The trusted sources close to us say that the company has scheduled the launch for March 17, 2015. As mentioned above, the i20 Active is a crossover-version of the hot-selling Elite i20 which was launched last year. Designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany, Hyundai India calls it an ‘SUV looking car’.
The i20 Active adopts a ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language – completing a skid plates at front & rear, new bumper, large circular foglamps and projector headlamps. Black plastic cladding, roof rails and different styled 5-spoke alloy wheels completes the side profile. At the rear, the i20 Active gets new bumper round reflectors incorporated to match the front fogs.
Inspired by ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy defining the Human Engineering.
Engine options will likely mirror what’s offered on models like the Elite i20, starting with the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol mill mated to a 5-speed manual, whereas the diesel is a 1.4-litre U2 turbodiesel paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The suspension has been reworked due to the increased ground clearance.
We’ll bring you more details as soon as its launched – for now, check out the spied pictures of the i20 Active without any camouflage.
