The latest 5 lakh units for Honda Cars India, taking its total sales past 15 lakh mark, came in just 34 months.

The City went on to become a household name in its segment over the years and currently is one of Honda’s most profitable models here. Honda also claimed that the last five lakh units by the company were sold in just 34 months. This was after the company hit the 1 million mark in terms of cars sold in October 2015.

Honda currently are bearing the fruits of their recent success in the market. The company has gained immensely by the strong sales of the WR-V, City facelift and the recently launched Amaze facelift. It is believed that Honda are planning on launching as many as 7 new models in the next two years.

Of the 7, cars like the next generation Civic and the CR-V will be heading to our shores by the end of this year. We can expect them to bring some volumes for the company, given their track record in India. Honda are also looking on improving their export network, which at the moment is seeing some improvement.

The company sold as many as 79,599 units in the current fiscal, which runs from April-August. This shows an increase of 9 percent for the automaker, who sold 73,012 units during the same time last year. Honda’s dealer network here consists of 341 dealerships spread across 231 cities across India.
