One of the most anticipated launches for the year 2013 is the Honda Amaze and the car is rumoured to have touched down on the Indian shores and has reached the ARAI facility for homologation. Now in the coming days, we can safely expect the car to start testing in the country and the spyshots will start pouring in from the city of Pune, the city which houses the ARAI facility.
Honda seems to have sent both the petrol and diesel motors to the country for testing and Amaze is the sedan version of the Brio. It looks like a proper 3 box sedan and will have an edge over the Swift Dzire as it will look like a compete sedan. Honda has altered the grill and the bumper of the car and the rear door gets a bit tweaked too to keep in sync with the birth of the sedan version of the car.
The boot is quite neatly integrated into the hatchback and looks quite good from the side profile. It surely does not look like an after market job like the Swift Dzire CS. The engine options will be the 1.2-litre i-VTEC motor that currently powers the Brio and the Jazz hatchback in the country. It will also get a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor which is the one the company will be betting big on to get the sales rolling.
The Brio sedan is expected to be launched by March-April of this year at a very aggressive pricetag and will compete head on the segment leader, Dzire and the soon to be launched the Verito CS which will launch at the same time as the Amaze. Honda could have a winner on their hands only if they manage to price the car aggressively enough to undercut the pricing of the Dzire or at par with it. Stay tuned to us for further updates regarding the same.
