General Motors, earlier this year showcased Chevrolet Sail hatchback at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi. The company is surely working on expanding its portfolio in the country and to grab a huge chunk of market share in the Indian car market. Sail hatchback has been made under the collaboration with Chinese firm Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). It is scheduled to launch by the month of June or July 2012 in India.
Chevrolet Sail hatchback is sporty, smart and extremely spacious. It will replace the aging small car Aveo U-VA, whose sales are not impressive at all and has been very dull since a couple of years. With Chevrolet Sail hatchback, company is actually planning to gain some force to get back into the B+ segment of the Indian car market and compete with champions like Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Swift. The new Chevrolet Sail hatchback has been developed with great care and has been made aesthetically appealing and technically sound. The major highlight of this car is its space. The car is expected to be offered in both diesel as well as petrol variants.
Under the hood, the petrol variant will feature 1.2 litre of S-TEC engine, whereas the diesel variant of Chevrolet Sail hatchback could come with 1.3 litre Multi-jet engine, which was developed in collaboration with Fiat long ago. Apart from impressive engine options, the safety features of Chevrolet Sail hatchback are remarkable and the interiors are modish, chic and loaded with advanced technology. As far as the price of this hatchback is concerned, the General Motors India has kept it under the wraps, but speculations suggest that it would be priced and positioned above Chevrolet Beat car.
