It’s been one and half year since I got this beauty as my long term steed but boy, I have enjoyed every bit being on it. Initially I thought of it as a maniac machine, but I soon realised that it’s not actually crazy. In fact, it’s much more than that for its size. It’s pure insanity. There has never been a dull moment involving the RTR 160 Fi. It does vibrate quite a bit, but then if it doesn’t, the ride becomes quite boring.
Having almost similar dimensions as a smaller bike, the RTR is very controllable in city traffic. It just weaves through traffic with ease. On highways too it throws no tantrums and munches up miles with no extra effort. However, I prefer to keep cool and cruise at a decent speed that doesn’t put any stress on the bike or me. The fuel economy of the bike was a surprise as it delivered almost 50Kmpl with careful and controlled riding and 45Kmpl in mixed riding conditions.
The riding posture is quite comfortable for cities and small highway stints, however, settling your bottom on it for prolonged periods result in a back pain. At least I felt so, may be because of my weight I guess. Anyways, the RTR 160 Fi is a bike that offers a solid bang for your buck. It is a mixture of contemporary design, fuel injection and front/rear disc brakes with all the traditional elements of a quick bike.
I met 2 accidents in these one and half years riding Apache RTR 160 Fi and recently last week, sustained minor injuries wearing a helmet and ended of with broken teeth. I love the bikes throaty exhaust note. I wonder how many Indian bikes would be able to match this kind of handling. And it is not just about the corners, the RTR 160 Fi feels very stable on bumpy and uneven on surfaces as well.
Moreover, it features a price tag that entices the youngsters (like me) and the young heart. Sadly, I have to bid adieu to this fun to ride steed of mine that stayed loyal and humble throughout our journey together. I will definitely miss it.
