What’s this, a sportier version of the Suzuki Gixxer 155? It seems that Suzuki is readying a fully-faired version of the Gixxer 155 and one prototype was spied testing in Delhi. The test mule that was accompanied by the Gixxer was completely camouflaged. The company has made sure not to reveal too much about the bike but majority of the components are from the naked sibling.
The fully faired Gixxer gets Hayabusa-styled headlamp.
The spy picture shows the front fascia is inspired from the Suzuki’s flagship motorcycle, the Hayabusa. The rear-view mirrors are integrated into the fairing and the windshield is quite big. The fully-faired test mule gets a single piece grab rail, unlike the dual-grab rails seen on the Gixxer and clear lens indicators. This new Gixxer variant is expected to be named ‘GSX 150R’.
From the spy shots, the fully-faired variant can be seen wearing same body parts as seen on the naked Gixxer. This includes fuel tank, exhaust, foot pegs, seat, mud guards, alloys wheels, tyres and suspensions. The full-faired Gixxer is expected to be launched in mid-2015 and will range about Rs 10-15k more than its naked variant.
Under the skin, the fully-faired GSX 150R will be powered by the same 155cc single-cylinder engine that produces 14.6bhp at 8,000rpm and a maximum torque of 14Nm at 6,000rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Faired Suzuki Gixer will be portioned in the upper category of the premium commuters and compete with the bikes like Yamaha Fazer.
