Ford to discontinue Takata airbags over safety concerns

Just a couple of months ago we reported about Honda recalling its vehicles over the Takata airbag issue when they found that the airbags exploded with too much force, which can tear loose metal parts and cause injury to vehicle occupants. Ford has now also joined the list of companies including Honda, Toyota and Nissan who have stopped using Takata make airbags in their vehicles.

Ford has announced it will not use Takata make airbags in any of their under development project may it be car, SUV or truck. It is estimated that about 19.2 million vehicles had to be recalled in US alone to replace the malfunctioning inflator’s. Although Ford will continue buying other safety products from Takata which have proven safety record.
