Ford India’s 8 global products launch plan till 2015 seems to be taking a proper shape now, they launched the 2011 Ford Fiesta Sedan a couple of weeks ago, Ford India will unveil its next product, the second of the 8 global products the automaker plans to launch the Ford Focus Sedan. It is expected to hit the Indian shores by early-2012.
Seen for the first time at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the new Focus is a modern, stylish and young-looking car. Focus is one of the most important models in the Ford lineup worldwide, with over 1 crore cars sold globally since its launch in 1998, and is known for its great value, features and the fun to drive factor.
The 2012 Ford Focus is not ordinary cheap car and will be priced above the 2011 Ford Fiesta. We can expect Ford to price the Focus between Rs. 13-16 lakhs, competing against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, the Chevrolet Cruze, the Honda Civic, the Renault Fluence Sedan, the Skoda Laura and the new Volkswagen Jetta.
While there has been no official word from Ford India about the launch or the probable list of engines for the car, knowing the Indian market, the choice of engines seems quite obvious. In all probability the manufacturer will offer Focus in both, petrol engine option being the 150 PS, 1.6-litre EcoBoost unit and diesel engine option being 95 PS/115 PS 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi. There is a 2.0-liter diesel as well, available internationally, but we think that it would be a little too much for this segment, and push the cost up unnecessarily.
In terms of features whatever is being offered with the new Fiesta, like Voice Recognition System, Cruise Control, Rear Parking sensors and many other are at least expected and besides all these new and more advanced features will definitely be there.
