The recent launch of the much awaited Ford EcoSport, which has been priced very aggressively in the Indian market, has already raised the sales of the SUV’s giving it an entirely new dimension in the sales market. According to the reports obtained by Financial Express, Ford India has already obtained more than 17000 bookings for its EcoSport in just two weeks since its launch on June 26th. On an average, Ford is receiving more than 1000 bookings for its EcoSport each day throughout India.
Fords assembly line at Chennai could produce around 5000 units of Ford EcoSport every month which is much less compared to the units of booking the company has already obtained in just two weeks. Since the same assembly line is also used for the production of Figo, Classic and Fiesta, Ford has to either think of setting up a new production plant in India or has to reduce the production of its other range of cars in order to increase the number of productions of the Ford EcoSport.
Considering the current bookings, Ford has received highest bookings for its diesel variant, as a result of which dealers in some cities have already stopped taking bookings for the diesel Ford EcoSport. Mr.Vinay Piparsania, executive director for marketing, sales and service, Ford India, said that “We have had an overwhelming response and are now consolidating the order list. This is quite high and unprecedented for us at Ford. Dealers have certain allocations. In case that gets over, they will keep the customers informed of when they can expect to book the car and get it delivered.”
