After the recent launch of the much awaited Ford EcoSport, which has been priced very aggressively in the Indian market, has already also affected the sales of the SUV’s globally. All the 972 units of EcoSport diesel which was already delivered to the customers in only two weeks from its launch was fitted with a Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) which was placed under the front bumper. Apart from this, the company has already registered bookings of over 20000 units in India.
Coming to what is GPCM? , Glow Plug Control Module is usually fitted to the diesel cars, which is used to start the engine and also keep the engines combustion chamber warm in order to burn the fuel in an efficient manner.
According to the American Company reports, Ford had placed the GPCM quite low in the EcoSport (under the front bumper); their main concern was that the GPCM might malfunction when it comes in contact with moisture or water. So as a preventive approach and in order to avoid inconvenience to customers, Ford decided to relocate the GPCM inside the engine bay. Ford Dealers have already started to contact the customers personally and ensured that the company’s technicians will soon reach their dealerships and this issue would be resolved under their supervision. Let’s hope that this recall by the company would not affect the new buyers of the Ford EcoSport in the Indian market. Do write to us about your opinion of this recall.
