Ford Figo ‘Blu’ (facelifted Ford Figo CNG) spotted in India – early 2019 launch?

Ford are all set to give the Figo a cosmetic upgrade in order to keep it fresh amongst formidable competition. The facelifted Figo is reportedly planned to be launching on early-2019. Recently, the Figo facelift was spotted on-test with a ‘Blu’ badging on the sides and tail gate, which could be a suffix for the facelift or the CNG variant.

The 2019 Figo will be based on the facelifted version of the Aspire compact sedan, which was launched in October this year. From the pictures, we can see the 2019 Figo carrying a new front end and grille, new bumpers and 15-inch alloy wheels. Other than that, it will receive new projector headlamps, a new rear bumper, new decals, a dual-tone paint scheme and a BLU sticker.

Ford Figo Blu 2019 facelift was spotted undergoing testing in India by Team-BHP reader Bhushit Dave.

Interior-wise, the vehicle will undergo a massive change, with a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominating it. It will also get better upholstery, automatic AC, height adjustable driver seat and steering-mounted audio controls. On the safety front, the 2019 Figo will have dual airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and hill assist as standard.

The 2019 Figo will come powered by both petrol and diesel engines. These set of engines are also seen on models like the Aspire facelift and the Freestyle. The petrol motors include a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Dragon series one having 96 BHP of power and 120 Nm of torque along with a 1.5-litre motor giving 110 BHP of power and 136 Nm of torque.

Spy images indicate that the prototype is likely the facelifted hatchback with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

While the former comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the latter can be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, there will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine capable of delivering 100 BHP of power and 215 Nm of torque. This will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The company is also likely to introduce a petrol-CNG option, likely a derivative of the new 1.2-litre motor.

Prices are expected to begin from Rs. 5 lakh and touch the Rs. 9 lakh barrier for the top trims. When launched, the facelifted Figo will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Mahindra KUV100. With sales of the facelifted Aspire picking up, Ford can sense a good opportunity in making it count by bringing the Figo facelift.
