Our friends at Wheel-O-Mania has posted an image of the upcoming Ford EcoSport been without any camouflage at a Ford dealer. The location of capture is yet to be ascertained. Wherever that maybe, it tells us the waiting will soon be over. Thus, we can assume that the EcoSport is almost being close to official launch soon.
According to the same, Ford India is expected to launch this vehicle sometime soon however the deliveries will begin in end-March / April-2013. They also reveal that dealers have already started accepting the bookings of the vehicle by Rs 50,000 in advance which as per the dealers is completely refundable.
The EcoSport in India will be available in 3 engine options mated to 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.5-litre petrol engines and the 1.5-litre oil burner as well. Earlier we said that only the top-end variant of EcoSport with 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will be available with automatic transmission. Now the folks here say Ford would launch automatic variant only in 1.5-litre Petrol engine and all other would be manual transmission.
Furthermore, the source reveals that the production of the EcoSport petrol variant would start in March-2013 at its Chennai plant and expect the delivers to happen in April-2013. And the production of the EcoSport diesel variant would commence only in April-2013, at the same time the deliveries would be stretched upto May-2013.
Pricing of EcoSport will decide its destiny in India. It’s a sub-4-meter car so it will enjoy excise benefits and Ford has also hinted that it will be cheaper than Duster. If Ford manages to do so and places it between the brackets of Rs 7–9 lakhs then it will be the best car in its segment. With its striking design, brilliant fuel efficiency and power packed performance it’s undoubtedly a complete value for money car.
