BMW has no plans to show the 2012 BMW 1-Series until the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September – oh wait, we now live in 2011 and leaked images and details are very well a normal thing. What you’re looking at here are the leaked images of the 2012 BMW 1-Series Hatchback prior to its official debut set for Frankfurt.
So what’s different this time around? A brand new exterior design, which seems to be inspired by the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo, a larger interior, new interior features including a larger iDrive display, BMW Apps, collision warning system, Internet connectivity and an ergonomic design. The rest of the car is an evolution of the previous model, but the overall design seems rather promising.
Slightly unkind interior of the predecessor is hardly recognizable. Clear indicators, quality finishes and a cockpit that is easily and visually inclined direction, drivers shall be technically for a new feel-good experience. On the dash sits slightly jagged depending on the version a 6.5 inch or 8.8-inch large flat screen display modules for navigation, air conditioning, radio, telephone and vehicle settings.
2012 BMW 1-Series is the compact and technically upgraded considerably and many comfort features the big brothers and driver assistance systems borrowed from. So it does other assistants for keeping track, parking, overtaking, and light. There are also rear-view camera, collision warning, speed limit detection, and Internet access.
Power will come from a range of new engines including gasoline and diesel units in Europe. The U.S.-spec will most likely get the new 240-hp 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder that will debut in the BMW Z4 sDrive28i. The 3.0L TwinPower Turbo making 300-hp is expected to remain. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic.
