This is the new Fiat Egea, an Linea successor for India and other RHD countries that made its debut at the 2015 Istanbul Motor Show in May-2015 at Turkey as Fiat Aegea. Now the company has dropped the ‘A’ from its name, going with the name ‘Egea’.
Production of the Egea has started in Turkey, and will launch in over 40 LHD markets in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions from November. Although there isn’t any confirmed report that the new Fiat Egea is the replacement for the Fiat Linea, but the dimensions fits the profile of a car that the company would want to replace the ageing Linea.
Italian style is finely expressed in the overall design of the vehicle. Step-inside, the Fiat Egea features a comfortable cabin with an ample luggage space. Interiors will boast a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the Fiat UConnect media system, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate controls, instrument cluster with TFT multi-info display along with steering mounted controls for audio system.
Engine options for the Egea include a 1.4-liter FIRE four-cylinder unit mated to a 5-speed manual transmission producing 95 hp, a 1.6-liter E-torq 110 hp engine matched to a 6-speed automatic, a 1.3-liter Multijet diesel with 95 hp paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 1.6-liter Multijet diesel that will develop 120 hp, coupled to a 6-speed manual.
Fiat is also considering a hatchback variant of the Egea that was spotted testing in Europe recently, and is rumoured to be unveiled in the first half of 2016.
