Fiat Auto has revealed images and details of their all new 500L hatchback, the 5 door variant of 500 superhatch. Fiat 500L will be officially unveiled for the first time during 2012 Geneva Motor Show on 6th March. Dimensions of Fiat 500L are 162.9 inches X 70.1 inches X 65.3 inches (L X W X H), while the 3 door 500 hatch dimensions read – 139.6 inches X 64.1 inches X 58.6 inches (L X W X H). Fiat 500L hatchback will be first launched in the European car market by the end of this year.

L in the 500L stands for Large. Fiat Auto adds that the new 500L is an addition to their existing range of 500 hatchbacks, which include cabrio and Abarth variants. Fiat Auto is launching 500L with the aim to increase sales, reach out more customers and penetrate newer markets.

Italian car maker, Fiat has tried to place the 500L in a segment which gives customer a feel of driving a small SUV, but without compromising space or mileage. According to Fiat Auto, “Fiat 500L defies the conventional distinctions between the various segments, combining the typical characteristics of different categories in order to create a distinctive alternative to the traditional B and C segments.”

Fiat 500L will be manufactured at their plant on Kragujevac, Serbia. Fiat adds, “500L is a ‘first car’ for those who won’t settle for anything less than Italian style, the versatility that comes from a functional design and engine technology that sets the bar in terms of efficiency.” Engine options for the new 500L include two petrol (TwinAir and 1.4-litre) and one turbodiesel (1.3 MultiJet II).
