When Ferrari unveiled the LaFerrari to the world at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show this year, it sent shockwaves throughout the automotive world. Many were left very puzzled by the illogical name more than its performance figures however, as everyone had expected it to be thrilling quick. But that name, now that was unexpected. The car is priced an astounding 1 million euros or $1.3 million dollars, that’s approximately Rs. 9.3 crores (exclusive of taxes).
Recently the folk at GTspirit encountered two LaFerrari’s which they tried to catch up (unsuccessfully), with a 543hp Audi R8 V10 Plus. They followed the beast for several kilometers, and say that LaFerrari sounds great as it took the Ferrari’s V12 little effort to make it clearly heard over the V10. The two LaFerraris are factory duration test cars, both had fire extinguishers installed on the passenger seat as part of the safety procedure and they had over 15,000 kilometers on the clock.
In the below video you can clearly see and hear the second LaFerrari. Also the folk at GTspirit managed to take few snaps of the flagship Ferrari when the test drivers halted for a coffee break. Ferrari is doing daily shakedown and endurance tests with the LaFerrari prior to the first customer deliveries, the two cars we encountered were endurance prototypes.
Ferrari’s itself are a very rare sightings on Indian roads, and seeing the latest and violent beast from Maranello, might be the breathtaking experience.
Refresher – Ferrari LaFerrari features 6.3-litre V12 engine combined with two electric motors. One of these motors powers the wheels while the other powers the ancillaries. The combined units can produce peak power of 963 hp – 800 hp by the V12 engine and 163 hp from the two electric motors.
