Eicher-Polaris Multix launched – get’s 3KW electricity generator, from Rs. 2.33 lakh

Eicher-Polaris joint venture has today launched its very first product, the Multix utility vehicle. The Multix will be available in two variants and four colours, starting at a price of Rs. 2,32,850/- (ex-showroom Jaipur).

The Multix is claimed to be India’s first “Personal Utility Vehicle”, it can be used by private buyers as well as for commercial purposes, says the company. The most significant feature is the X-Port generator which is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The generator is capable of producing 3 KW of electricity which can be used for lighting homes and powering equipment like water pumps and drilling machines. With electricity supply in India witnessing regular power-cuts, the JV company says that this feature will ensure uninterrupted business operations.

The Multix is designed to accommodate 5 passenger + luggage. The vehicle offers a maximum storage space from 480 litres to over 1,900 litres in 3 minutes with the rear seats folded down. The vehicle measures 3,235 mm in length, 1,585 mm in width, 1,856 mm in height and has a ground clearance of 225 mm. The kerb weight ranges from 650 – 750 kg.

Powering the Multix is a BSIII, 4-stroke, single cylinder, 510.7cc diesel engine sourced from Greeves Cotton which produces 9.8 BHP of power at 3000 RPM and 27.1 Nm of torque between 1400-2200 RPM. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox that returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.45 kmpl. Underpinned by a steel tubular spaceframe, Multix employs independent suspension adapted from Polaris ATVs.

Eicher-Polaris Multix will be launched in 30 cities across the country. The test drives will commence from July while the first deliveries are slated for August.
