Mercedes AMG and Ducati will launch the Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition on September 15 to 25, 2011, at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany. The Diavel family’s 2012 flagship model, a tribute to the AMG luxury-sport brand, is meant for avid aficionados of engineering detail, exclusive style and technology. The one-of-a-kind collaboration between Ducati and Mercedes AMG was first made known at the 2010 car show in Los Angeles with a sponsorship deal for the Ducati MotoGP Team, which best demonstrated the shared brand values of motor sport, high performance and excitement.
The association then started to strategize co-marketing activities. The Diavel AMG Special Edition signifies the first “co-inspired” model, merging the characteristic styling features of the two famous brands. The Special Edition, which is based on the Diavel Carbon, showcases AMG’s signature 5-spoke wheel styling, AMG-style horizontally ribbed seat in Alcantara® upholstery, AMG-style sport exhaust system with engraved end-caps, and carbon fiber lateral radiator grills with aluminum trim.
Moreover, the incredible attention to performance detail of the model ensures that every engine has its Desmodromic cam-timing set by hand, authenticated with the engine technician’s name engraved on the left side of the engine’s casing. Further enhancing the model’s exclusivity is the numbered plaque on the fuel tank of each motorcycle. The prized Ducati Diavel has had huge first-year success for the Italian motorcycle maker with its bold design combining the worlds of style and power in absolute precision to set a new industry standard for the segment.
