Datsun have had quite a few ups and downs since they entered the Indian market five years ago. Nissan’s low-cost brand have found the going tough, but have recovered due to the success of the Redi-Go. The brand will now look to change its fortunes in India by facelifting the Go hatchback and the Go+ family wagon.
Datsun recently teased both these models, giving us the hint that their launch is not far away from now. The Go and Go+ were Datsun’s first two products in India and have remained largely unchanged since launch. However, we can see a new front grille and headlamp design in the teaser images.
Changes will be made on the interiors as well. The Go and Go+ will get a new dashboard equipped with features. These include a 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system, newly designed AC vents and also a new tachometer.
Other features include 14-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and ABS along with dual airbags. Mechanically, the Go and Go+ will employ the same 1.2 litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of delivering 68 BHP of power and 104 Nm of torque.
It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic version also being considered. Both these cars are expected to launch this-month, some unconfirmed reports say the launch is scheduled for Tuesday October 09, 2018. Datsun will be keen on pricing both these cars competitively in order to gather some much-needed momentum in sales.
