2007 Suzuki Splash Concept transformed into the production Maruti Ritz
Maruti Suzuki being the no.1 passenger car manufacturer in the Indian market has now planned to build the next-generation models of Ritz and Swift in the near future. Maruti Suzuki will launch its popular B+ segment hatchback Ritz in 2015 and Swift in 2017.
Ritz which made its debut in mid 2009 features a tall boy design and is also sold as Suzuki Splash in the International market. Ritz which got slight modifications to its styling recently is later expected to be built on the current Swift’s platform, which would then be launched as a next-gen variant in 2015 (i,e 6 years after the launch of first generation version). Currently available in two engine options i,e a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet diesel engine either coupled to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The next-gen Ritz is expected to be equipped with more features and also improved engines in the upcoming model.
Swift which made its debut in 2005 is currently India’s best selling B+ segment hatchback. The second-generation Swift launched in 2011 is a larger car than the one which made its debut in 2005. As per the reports, Maruti Suzuki is likely to facelift the Swift next year. Apart from this, the next-gen Swift which would be launched in 2017 is expected to be equipped with some of the features such as cruise control, push button start, keyless entry, DRL’s and much more which has already been available in the Swift launched a couple of months ago in the International market.
