Datsun Go Cross spied, launch slated to take place next-year

Datsun is looking to revamp their India operations by launching new products as well as upgrading existing products. In fact, their entire range is scheduled to get a facelift by next-year. However, one new product that we can see being launched during that time is the Go Cross crossover-SUV.

Datsun Go-Cross prototype spotted testing in Chennai, India.

Datsun debuted the car in the Indonesian market towards the end of last-year. The automaker even showcased a concept form of the vehicle during the 2016 Auto Expo. Recently, the Go Cross, wrapped in heavy camouflage, has been spotted undergoing testing in Chennai.

Given the images of the test mule, we can expect the car to have a lot of space inside. At the front, the Go Cross gets LED DRL’s and fog lamps. The Go Cross will get a large bumper and a sporty spoiler at the rear.

Measuring less than 4-metre in length, Datsun Go Cross will be priced under the Rs. 10 lakhs mark.

Engine-wise, the car will be powered by an 1.0-litre petrol engine. Datsun have not yet spoken on whether the Go Cross will come powered with a diesel engine. The Go Cross will be built on Renault Nissan’s cost-effective CMF-A platform, which will also power future models from the automaker.

As a result of that, we can expect the Go Cross to be priced under the Rs.10 lakh mark. The Go Cross will rival the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R MPV, which will also arrive here next year. Datsun will pin their hopes on the Go Cross to revive their sales here, which at the moment, is marginally improving.
