Tesla, Inc. has sued Alameda County, California. The move comes after local officials did not authorize the firm to reopen its factory in Fremont. The case calls for a permanent injunction against the county’s shelter-in-place order.
The Governor of California released new guidelines that allowed the reopening of manufacturing companies. But they have allowed individual counties to apply their own laws. A shelter-in-home rule was enforced by Alameda County up till May 31, 2020.
Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependen on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.
