X1 stands on 3 series sedan platform and carries over the precise and nimble handling of the sedans such as 1 series and 3 series. The much expected baby BMW priced starting from Rs. 24 lakhs to Rs. 30 lakhs. In March, Peter Kronschnabl, BMW India president had said that the BMW X1 crossover would be launched in India in both petrol and diesel versions. The sales target for the company is 500 units, which we think it should be able to meet easily.

BMW X1 is a rear wheel drive SUV powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine that churns out 177 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. It has a six-speed automatic transmission. BMW X1 will be the most affordable SUV from BMW but the cost cutting will reflect in the budgetary features list on this entry level SUV. X1 is expected to come in Corporate Edition and High Line variants. The BMW X1 takes its styling cues from its bigger siblings and offers a compact, sporty package.
