Ford India has launched an automatic transmission variant in petrol mode of its sedan Fiesta in New Delhi, priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company has launched the new Fiesta automatic in two trim variants – base variant Style and premium variant Titanium.
Fuel economy is of essential importance to Indian consumers, and Ford knows it all too well. The 6-speed dual-clutch Powershift Automatic gearbox on the 2012 Ford Fiesta improves fuel economy drastically, giving a mileage of 16.86 kmpl. If you’re the kind that loves to extract every ounce juice out of your car, this one’s definitely for you. The new dual-clutch 6-speed automatic gearbox on the new 2012 Ford Fiesta has been praised by automobile magazines. Test drives of the new Fiesta Sedan have revealed that the automatic gearbox is more responsive on bends and off roads than its manual counterpart.
The shifts are precise and do not dampen acceleration. The popular 1.5 liter petrol engine Ti-VCT will be retained on the new 2012 Ford Fiesta. The C-segment car space in India is a battle between foreign and local automobile companies. Both foreign automakers and domestic automakers are aware of consumer preferences in India. Ford has a lot to prove in India, and the 2012 all new Fiesta Automatic Dual Clutch Sedan may just give them the competitive edge in the Indian automobile market.
“The all new Fiesta powershift automatic will further open up this segment. This new variant comes with a very affordable pricing and better fuel efficiency than the manual one,” Ford India President and MD, Mr Michael Boneham, told reporters here at the launch.
This new product is a part of the company’s plans to introduce eight new models in India by 2015.
The existing prices of the manual petrol variant of the new Fiesta vary from Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 9.44 lakh. The diesel variant of the manual transmission is priced at Rs 9.28 lakh to Rs 10.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
