The new F48 BMW X1 (2016) debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show last-year has been officially launched in India at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. However, the deliveries in the country are set to begin from April, 2016.
The new 2016 X1 is priced starting from Rs. 29.90 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. It is 53 mm taller (1,598 mm now, seating position 40 mm higher) and at 1,821 mm, is 23 mm wider than before. The smallest X is the best of its kind, thanks to more conventional SUV looks, a well-appointed cabin, improved space and segment leading driver’s appeal.
The second-generation of this successful model gets larger pair of kidney grilles, optional full-LED headlamps, revised front bumper, re-designed alloys, re-styled LED tail light cluster and revised rear bumper. The interior of the new BMW X1 is carried over from the previous model featuring a flowing dashboard design, however, the centre console has been separate from the transmission tunnel.
For India the new 2016 X1 only comes powered by the familiar 2.0-litre TwinPower diesel engine which produces 190bhp of power with a max torque of 400Nm. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and comes with an xDrive AWD system in the top-spec variants. It sprints from 0-100 kmph is 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 219 kmph.
