The German carmaker, BMW has just announced that it will be recalling 1.3 million vehicles worldwide, in order to carry out a quality measure that affects the BMW 5 and 6 Series model built between 2003 and 2010.

“In some remote cases, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted,” BMW said in a statement. “This can result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start and, in some cases, to charring or fire.”

BMW said that it is not aware of accidents or injury to persons resulting from this fault.

Owners of the recalled models have been notified in writing.
