BMW India today launched its all new 2013 6-Series Gran Coupe, it aims to attract buyers who place greater emphasis on outright style than practicality at the relatively inexpensive price of Rs. 86.40 lakh (ex-showroom India). The 6-Series Gran Coupe joins the existing two-door coupe and convertible models in an expanded range of 6-series models and its very first four-door Coupe from BMW offering.
The 4-door coupe from BMW will be available in just one variant, the diesel 640d, which is powered by a 3.0-litre six cylinder 4 valve engine, generating peak power of 313 hp and 630 Nm torque and will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is limited to 250 kmph and acceleration of 0-100 kmph can be achieved in just 5.4 seconds.
The Gran Coupe is identical to the 6-series coupe and convertible from its forward-leaning kidney grille through to the upper trailing edge of its windscreen. However, it adopts a longer and flatter roof structure, substantial B-pillars and two conventionally front-hinged rear doors. To help provide the Gran Coupe with an added touch of coupe-like style, all four doors are frameless. The interiors are beautifully built and material quality is top-notch. The dash is a carryover from the 6-series coupe.
