British luxury car brand, Bentley Motors today launched its much-awaited first SUV Bentley Bentayga in India at a price of Rs. 3.85 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Customers can customize their Bentayga in any way they like, so most cars will end up much more expensive that the list price.
Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB-Evo platform, the Bentayga measures 5,141 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width (with mirrors folded) and 1,742 mm in height. It has a wheelbase measuring 2,992 mm and a kerb weight of 2,422 kg. A new range of bespoke Bentayga alloy wheels are available, ranging in size from 20″ to 22″.
The Bentayga takes design cues from other Bentley. Down below, a skid plate is presented to further emphasise the Bentley Bentayga’s go-anywhere attitude. Just aft of the front wheel arch are B-shaped fender vents. At the rear, much of the marque’s current design language has been deployed with large LED tail lamps and twin oval-shaped exhaust pipe. Aluminium roof rails are also to be found.
Inside, matters should remain familiar to Bentley owners as the cabin trimmed in a combination of leather, wood and metal. It features leather upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and a 60 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi connectivity and heated split rear seats. Optional equipment includes Bentley Rear Entertainment, a Bentley Signature sound system or a Naim sound system, and a Breitling Tourbillon dashboard clock among other features.
The engine is an all-new biturbo 6.0-litre TSI W12 unit that pumps out 600 hp at 6,000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque from 1,250 to 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. Bentley says this is the fastest SUV in the world with a 0-100 kph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301 kph.
