Passion can take you places where profession could never have. We have got plenty of testimony for this and here we have one more. This testimony once again proves that determination and persistence can always helps in the long run. The story is of a barber named Ramesh Babu from Bangalore. Unlike any ordinary daily wage earner, this man dared to dream larger than life and went on to achieve this dream.

This man presently owns not one or two or three, but 200 cars, vans and mini-buses. This contingent includes imported vehicles like a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, Mercedes C, E and S-Class and BMW 5, 6 and 7-Series. He also has a fleet of imported vans including a Mercedes-Benz Viano, a Toyota HiAce and Volkswagen Transporter! What made him achieve this? A lottery ticket, inherited wealth or sheer luck by chance? None of the above is the answer.

As far as the inherited wealth is concerned, Ramesh lost his dad when he was a nine year-old boy. His father ran a small saloon. His mother had scarce or no means to run the family and hence the young boy got to the task and received hairdressing training from his uncle. To make ends meet, they rented out his father’s saloon on Brigade Road for a mere Rs 5 per day. Forced to get a full-time job, Babu dropped out of school after Class 10 and started working as a barber.

Continuing with his profession, Ramesh dreamt of owning a car. As his business grew and got clientele of policemen, politicians, film personalities, sports personalities and public figures, he bought a Maruti Omni in 1994 for personal use and later rented it out. This started a new and consistent stream of income for him which he invested in buying other cars. In the next one decade, he had six more cars. After this, Ramesh went on to explore the high-end car renting segment and bought cars from brands like Mercdeds, BMW and Rolls Royce. A luxury car like Rolls Royce may fetch up to Rs 75,000 a day.

However, Ramesh’s fancy automotive fleet does not include only cars, he also owns a Suzuki Intruder high-end bike that is worth Rs 16 lakh. He rides this bike during weekends and it’s purely for his private use though occasionally he lets some of his close friends enjoy a ride. No matter that gleaming Rolls parked outside, Ramesh did not forget his roots. He cuts the hair of his regular customers for just Rs 80. Meanwhile, his two-year-old son already seems to share his father’s passion. He effortlessly identifies each and every car in Ramesh’s fancy fleet.

Today with his 200 cars under company Ramesh Tours and Travels in Bangalore, he is still passionately indulged in his hairdressing profession and owns 3 shops in Bangalore city. Even now, Ramesh owns his first Maruti Omni van and now plans to buy a stretch limousine worth around Rs 8 to 9 crore (might be Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB).
