Bajaj Auto is considering a launch of 125cc version of the popular Platina commuter motorcycle. We can expect launch to take place during Diwali this-year. When launched, the Platina, alongside the Discover 125, will represent Bajaj in the 125cc commuter motorcycle segment.
Recently, the Platina 125 was spied undergoing testing. The bike features a 125 badge along with a front disc brake. Other features that the bike will carry include a halogen headlight with LED DRL’S, alloy wheels, conventional telescopic suspension on the front along with twin-sided shock-absorbers at the rear.
Engine-wise, the Platina 125 will borrow the 124.5cc engine from the Discover 125. This single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled DTS-i motor will likely deliver a power output of 11 bhp along with 11 Nm of torque. There is talk about the Platina 125 replacing the V12 from Bajaj’s line-up.
The company has not yet officialy annoounced the 125cc Platina, but we can expect confirmation to arrive more sooner than later. The company is no doubt, expected to price the Platina 125 competitively in order to take on rivals. These include the Honda CB Shine SP, Hero Glamour and the Yamaha Saluto.
