Bajaj Cruiser motorcycle in the works, ready by February-2014

Think about affordable cruiser motorcycles, and the brand that immediately comes into mind is, Royal Enfield. They have dominated this segment for many, many years now. The only other cruiser motorcycle that is cheaper than a Royal Enfield is, the Bajaj Avenger, but one problem is, the Avenger lacked the grunt that the higher capacity cruiser motorcycles had. Even though the Avenger got an engine upgrade recently, it always left the riders wanting for more power.

Now according to our good friends at MotorBeam, Bajaj is coming-up with an entirely new cruiser motorcycle that would be showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi (07-11 February 2014). The motorcycle is expected to revolutionise this segment as, Bajaj will definitely put in all the technology it has gained expertise in over the years, into this bike. Technology like, liquid cooling, fuel injection, the famous triple spark technology etc. could make its way into this motorcycle. Bajaj could also use mechanical bits from the 200ns on this bike to cut down production costs, which means that they can price the vehicle very competitively.

In the cruiser bike market, there are bikes from various manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Triumph, Suzuki, Hyosung etc. in the higher price levels, whereas, in the lower price levels, Royal Enfield is the only player right now. The Bajaj Avenger is still selling in pretty decent figures, Without Bajaj doing anything to promote or develop it, so if Bajaj put in the effort and launch a well engineered and developed cruiser bike, it will definitely boost sales, and can be one big reason for Royal Enfield to worry.
