The Pune-based two-wheeler giant has now released a video detailing the live tracking feature of the vehicle in a build-up to its launch of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter nearing in the coming weeks.

Without a smartphone app for remote access and review, a premium e-scooter is incomplete. The live tracking feature, one of the many features of the smartphone app from e-Chetak, helps the rider find the scooter in a crowded parking area such as massive shopping malls, city center, etc.

The app is relatively simple, and Google maps also have a similar feature. Nevertheless, it seems that the Bajaj app is more convenient. The app can also produce trip statistics, user authentication and several other protection and convenience features in addition to live tracking.

Talking about the design, the Bajaj Chetak adopts a classic retro style with curved panels similar to Vepsa. New features include full-LED headlamp, digital instrument panel, USB port, front disk brake and alloy wheels. An all-metal body completes the scooter.

The Chetak is powered by an electric 4 KW (5.36 hp) motor backed by a lithium-ion battery pack whose specifications are not yet known, but in Eco mode, the scooter has a claimed 100 km range. In Sport mode, it goes down to 80 km. The battery can be fully charged in about 5 hours with a normal wall socket, although 80% of the charging takes about 3.5 hours.

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter would be put in a strong position by a price point of around INR 1 lakh including the FAME-II subsidy. This scooter will go head-on with the Bangalore-based Ather 450 that has a well-established presence in the Garden City, and now preparing to enter Pune early next-year.
