The German automaker, Audi India has today launched the top-end petrol variant of the A6 priced at Rs. 52.75 lakh. The new model sits above the existing 35 TFSI petrol variant, which is priced at Rs. 48.10 lakh (both prices are of ex-showroom, Delhi).
The major change is the addition of the Audi Matrix LED headlights. A bundle of 19 light emitting diodes per headlight paired with four reflectors produce the high-beam light. Matrix LED headlights which are permanently on high beam, ideally illuminate the road ahead without dazzling other road users by switching off individual LEDs.
Other changes on the Matrix trim compared to the regular A6 include a special S-Line body kit, and 18-inch, forged hollow spoke alloy wheels. It further gets new dynamic turn indicators embedded in the tail lights, which sweep towards the direction of turn. On the inside, this new model features a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that also offers navigation support, and gets a 14-speaker sound system from BOSE.
The 1.8-litre in-line, four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, develops 187 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox, but doesn’t get the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It can sprint from 0 to 100 KMPH in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 233 KMPH. Its ARAI-rated fuel economy is 15.26 KMPL.
Other noteworthy features on offer include adaptive air suspension, eight airbags, and a comfort key feature with hands-free and gesture-based boot opening technology. In India, the A6 competes with the likes of BMW 5-Series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
