Yep. You heard it right. Mini is all set to unveil its 7th car and they call it the Paceman. The Paceman is based on the the Countryman’s platform and the car looks slightly larger to its sibling Countryman,in terms of external dimensions.
The Paceman being a 3-door hatchback can infact be called a Sports Coupe with lowered suspension set-up. However, anyone who wants to have a normal ride height can opt it as well. Further, The Paceman is going to be the 1st Mini to have power window switches on the door rather than on the central console. The rear bench consists of two separate seats with with armrest rather than a single bench.The seats can be folded to maximize the boot space.Although the Paceman looks small on the dimensions, Mini has done a good job in making it roomier inside.
Four engine options are available (i) 1.6L petrol 122bhp Paceman ,(ii) 1.6L diesel 112bhp-D Paceman ,(iii) 1.6L diesel 143bhp-SD Paceman ,(iv) S Paceman -1.6L petrol variant with 184bhp on tap. The Sport variant or S-variant will dash from naught to 100kph in 7.5s.As from what we hear, a John Cooper Works variant is also under development. The Mini four wheel drive system, ‘ALL4‘ system is present in all variants except the the base 122bhp variant. Prices are expected to start at £18,970 for the base variant. The Paceman is scheduled to be launched on March 2013 where we will get to know it better.
