The all-new 2016 Toyota Fortuner SUV has finally been launched in India. The second-generation of the popular rugged SUV is no longer a diesel-only affair for the Indian market, as the company has introduced the much-awaited petrol variant too.
A total of six variants have been made available for the Indian market, with prices ranging from Rs. 25.92 lakh for the 2.7 Petrol 4X2 manual variant, leading all the way up to Rs. 31.12 lakh for the top-spec 2.8 Diesel 4X4 automatic. Four variants here are equipped with rear-wheel drive configurations, leaving just the two top-spec 2.8 Diesel manual and 2.8 Diesel automatic with four-wheel drive systems.
Four of the six available variants will feature a 2.8L GD four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that churns out 174 hp and 450 Nm of torque, while the petrol variant get the brand’s new 2.7L dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine with 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque. It can be opted with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol Fortuner is only available with the 2WD system, and is the only SUV in its class to offer a petrol option.
