Yamaha Motor India today announced the arrival of the all-new Yamaha FZ-25, priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This first quarter-litre naked motorcycle from the Japanese bike maker is priced very competitively and is cheaper than the rivals like Honda CBR 250, KTM 200.
In Yamaha’s India lineup, the FZ-25 is positioned between the YZF-R15 V 2.0 and the YZF-R3, while in its segment competes with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, KTM Duke 200, upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 200NS and some Bajaj Pulsar RS200 to some extent. Like the other bikes in FZ range, the Yamaha FZ-25 is tuned to deliver low-end and mid-range torque.
A total of 3 paint shades are on offer – Knight Black, Ballistic Blue and Warrior White. The FZ-25 gets advanced features like LED headlamp inspired from the one seen in the Yamaha M Slaz, LED taillamp and an all digital instrumentation console. It has a low-positioned handlebar and forward-set footpegs for an easier riding position.
Bolted to a diamond frame, the Yamaha FZ 25 uses the same powertrain pairing as the Brazilian model of the Fazer 250. It gets a BSIV compliant 249cc single cylinder, air cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC, fuel-injected engine offering 20.9 bhp peak power at 8,000 rpm and peak torque of 20.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The engine gets an air + oil cooled cooling system which is what we have seen in motorcycles like Pulsar 220 etc… Further it comes with Yamaha’s technical know-how including Blue Core technology that helps to keep a balance between performance and fuel efficiency. It gains disc brakes on both wheels – 282 mm front and 220 mm disc rear.
Surprisingly, there’s no Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) even as an optional feature.
