Bajaj Auto will roll out the BS-VI compliant version of their tourer motorcycle, the Dominar 400 this month. Launch is scheduled to happen during the second half of January-2019. This will be in line with the BS-VI emission norms set to kick off from April 1 onwards.
The BS-VI compliant Dominar 400 was spotted quite a few times undergoing testing. Reports also suggested that the motorcycle will carry a few changes compared to the current one. However, one significant change will be the addition of a BS-VI compliant motor.
There is also talk that the BS-VI compliant Dominar 400 will receive a slight increase in power. At present, the Dominar 400 employs a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 34 BHP of power and 35 Nm of torque.
It comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The BS-VI compliant Dominar 400 will likely be carrying a returned rear suspension, revised instrumentation and a new exhaust system. These changes will help in improving the desirability and convenience of the motorcycle.
Expect the BS-VI compliant Dominar 400 to be priced at around Rs.10-15,000 more than the current model. The Dominar currently is priced at Rs. 2.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). Bajaj Auto will be undercutting the April 1 deadline, and the BS-VI compliant Dominar 400 is expected to garner some useful sales numbers before that period.
