Yesterday we showed you the spy pictures of the Peugeot 207 and 508 cars doing the rounds on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. We came across more pictures of the cars, now at a parking lot in Pune. Thanks to NDTV Car and Bike Show fan Ritesh Rasane for the picture. Since the snap was taken at night, the images aren’t all that clear.
It seems to be the same cars which images are buzzing around in the internet, resting in the garage for the night after a hard day of testing, splashing water and mud on the rain drenched expressway.
The 207 hatch will compete against VW Polo and Hyundai i20. If priced competitively, the car can also make a dent into the Swift category. The bigger 508 will lock horns against Honda Accord and Skoda Superb.
We feel Peugeot is definitely not looking at mass market. Peugeot wants to stabilize in India first and want to create a niche for itself. We will definitely see more vehicles from Peugeot stable in the future.
