Datsun is gearing-up to launch its second model in India, the Datsun GO+ MPV. The Go+ made its official debut at the 2013 Indonesian International Motor Show and will be launched in Indonesia initially. In India, this budget MPV will be launched in the first half of 2015 and will be priced upwards of Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Datsun Go+ is an extended Datsun Go with an additional third row seating.
The Go+ is basically a Go with an additional third row seating. And just like the Go hatchback, the Go+ MPV is offered in four variants – D, D1, A and T variants and like its hatchback sibling, only the top-end T trim offers power steering. The top-end variant features central locking, front power windows, body colored bumpers, full wheel covers and air conditioning system.
Even if the GO+ is only in reality a 5+2 seater because of its small size, it would still give a lot of families with smaller children some safety belts for the sixth and seventh passengers, which is way better than squeezing everyone into a 5-seater hatch. We don’t see any three point seatbelts for the third-row based on the photos, but there are lap belts.
Datsun Go+ will be available only with a petrol engine.
Mechanically, the Go+ is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the Go hatchback and Nissan Micra. This engine is capable of churning our 67bhp and 104Nm of torque mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. Surprisingly, the MPV has a fuel-efficiency rating of 20.62kmpl. Its braking system features ventilated discs at front and drum brakes at rear.
With the 7-seater capacity, the Go+ will fight against the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and the upcoming Renault Lodgy.
