2014 Tata Aria faceliftHome-grown car manufacturer, Tata Motors earlier this-week launched the facelift version of the Aria MPV without much fanfare. Looks wise, the Tata Aria hasn’t really been known as vehicle that reinvents itself. The cosmetic changes offered in exteriors include Black Bezel headlamps and clear lens tail lamps with a host of decals. On the inside, the Tata Aria facelift gets some updates in the form of better quality and added gadgetry while seating is the same in a 2+3+3 format.
The base variant facelift Tata Aria, Pure LX 4×2 bestows ABS+EBD, while the second variant Pleasure 4×2 is equipped with rear wash wiper, reverse parking sensors, steering mounted controls, steering mounted controls, front airbags and ABS+EBD. The top end variant Prestige 4×4 is blessed with high quality leather upholstery, reverse camera, satellite navigation, 360 watt Harman Infotainment system supporting connectivity with Blue 5 Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control, electric folding ORVMs, side and curtain airbags, ABS+EBD+ESP and traction control.
Under the hood of the 2014 Aria is the same 2.2-litre diesel power plant, but it has been re-tuned for improved performance. The engine now produces 150 ps/148 hp of power (10 more than the outgoing model) at 4000 rpm, while the peak torque of 320 Nm kicks in at a lowly 1500-3000 rpm. The facelift Aria also delivers enhanced fuel efficiency figure of 15.05 kmpl, while the earliest version of Aria delivered an average of 13.5 kmpl.
2014 Tata Aria facelift – Features
The Aria facelift that takes on the Mahindra XUV 500 and Toyota Innova, is priced at Rs. 9.95 lakhs for the Pure LX 4×2, Aria Pleasure 4×2 is priced at Rs. 12 lakhs while top of the range Aria Pride 4×4 is priced at Rs. 14.74 lakhs (all ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of pricing, the 2014 Aria is at a good stand-point and is close to the Innova, but even with more features on tap, beating the Innova is difficult. But seen with some major changes and added features makes the 2014 Aria is better value than before.
According to our good friends at MotorBeam, the Aria is all-set to get the next-gen model which will be launched as early as next-year. As per the source, the design of the next-generation Tata Aria will be inspired from the Range Rover (headlights and tail lights are very similar to the Range Rover) and the crossover will borrow heavy styling cues from Land Rover’s flagship vehicle. This is sure to make the new Aria very attractive and the vehicle will also get a new name to get rid of the fact that it has been called a ‘Bloated Indica’ which always ruins the reputation of an otherwise great vehicle.
