Tesla Motors is like what Apple Inc. is to the world, and its CEO Elon Musk is new Steve Jobs. The company is aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer.
Tesla first gained widespread attention following their production of the Tesla Roadster, the first fully electric sports car. The company’s second vehicle is the Model S, a fully electric luxury sedan, which was followed by the Model X, a crossover. Now the fourth vehicle revealed is the Model 3 electric car.
The Model 3 is Tesla Motors most affordable model with prices starting from US $35,000 (INR 23,27,850). It is a 4-door sedan which comfortably fit 5 adults, it further gets a large touch-screen instrument panel located at the centre of the dashboard and a panoramic sunroof. Designed with safety as a priority, Tesla Model 3 should be the safest car in its class once testing completes.
The high efficiency electric motor provides 0 to 96 km per hour acceleration in less than 6 seconds. And when equipped with electric all-wheel drive, Tesla Model 3 provides safe and dependable traction in all conditions. The production-spec model is slated for delivery in late-2017 in U.S., the Indian delivery timeline is yet to be announced.
Surprisingly, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk via his Twitter handle stated that the company has scheduled to launch in India this year starting with the Tesla Model 3. Pre-orders of the Tesla Model 3 are now open for Indian customers for US $1,000 (INR 66,510). Looking at the demand for the Model 3 don’t expect the sales to commence before late-2018 in India.
