Volvo India, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish multinational manufacturing company Volvo headquartered in Gothenburg will launch the much anticipated V40 Cross Country in India on 14 June at its new showroom in Gurgaon. Volvo’s Indian car line-up includes S60, S80, XC60 and XC90, the V40 Cross Country will be the most affordable Volvo car ever to lure young professionals.

Volvo V40 Cross Country is basically an off-roading capable version of the V40 hatch, so, it enjoys image of being both an off-roading competent vehicle and luxury hatchback. This will also help Volvo to position the V40 against both the compact Crossovers like BMW X1, Audi Q3, MINI Countryman and upcoming Mercedes-Benz A-Class (launch on 30 May).

The Volvo V40 will be imported into India through the completely built uni(CBU) route. Considering the recent import duty hike on CBU vehicles through the 2013 Union Budget, expect the Volvo V40 to be priced close to the 30 lakh rupee mark. It will be offered in two options, 1.6-litre petrol which will be the entry level and the 2.0-litre diesel which will also have an optional all-wheel drive variant.
