End last-month picture claiming to be leaked from Mahindra’s official presentation slide of the redesigned Mojo 300 floated on the net published by a Facebook page named PowerDrift, which now have been confirmed is fake news. The bike seen in the above is actually the Xingyue XY400GY on-off road dual purpose motorcycle that’s built by a Chinese motorcycle maker, Xingyue. The Xingyue XY400GY looks very similar to the Mahindra Mojo. The similarity in the twin head lamp and off-road characteristics of both bikes made it easy to be camouflaged as Mahindra Mojo.
Than what about the presentation slide? Re-designed Mahindra Mojo 300 which featured is the fake presentation slide. Thus, the folk at IndianMotosBlog conclude that the so called leak of the official presentation is a handy work of someone who takes pleasure in misleading the enthusiasts who keep a close tab on upcoming motorcycles.
Mahindra Mojo will be launched in its original avatar that was already previewed. It is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2013, and will be the first bike to be made in India in the 300cc segment. At first instance, when I read the article about the re-designed Mojo 300 I assumed it to be true as Mahindra already has its presence in Jeep/SUV, Rugged/Strong, Off-Road Vehicles, Outdoors/ Adventure.
All said and done, it remains to be seen whether Mahindra-2-Wheelers is indeed mulling to launch on-off road dual purpose motorcycle for the Indian market.
Refresher – Mahindra Mojo 300 will be powered by 292 cc engine, single cylinder-four stroke engine with a 4 valve DOHC head layout producing 25.8 BHP and a peak torque of 24 Nm. The liquid cooled engine runs on a 4 valve, DOHC layout with the fuel injection system from Ducati Energia. The bike comes with a six-speed manual transmission engine and with a kerb weight of 160 Kilograms, is one of the best in class power to weight ratio.
