Renault has officially unveiled its sub-4 meter compact SUV called the Triber, the company has claimed that Renault Triber has been developed for India, and will be launched in the country by the second half of 2019. The compact vehicle can accommodate up to seven passengers and offers “the largest boot capacity of its category in a five-seat configuration.”
Measuring 3,990mm in length, 1739mm in width, 1643mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2636mm, is the only sub-four-metre offering in India to get three rows of seats. The third row of seats can be removed depending on the seating configuration, the boot capacity varies from 84 litres to 625 litres. It has a ground clearance of 182 mm and comes with a 40 litre fuel tank.
The Triber incorporates a signature radiator grille dominated by a large Renault logo and flanked by sweptback headlights with projector lenses. Just below the lamps, the dual-tone front bumper features a silver scuff plate and DRLs. On the side, there is black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and on the doors. It has blacked-out B and C-pillars and a stepped roof with roof rails. At the rear, the Triber gets two-part Eagle beak tail lamps underline the width of the vehicle and a dual tone bumper with a silver skid plate.
The Renault Triber’s interior gets a dual-tone dashboard. The centre console houses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four airbags, passive keyless entry, 3.5-inch MID and rear parking camera. It has a cooled central storage area with cup holders and a cooled glove box and air-conditioning vents for the second and third row passengers. The second row of seats can slide and recline, while the third row has two seats that can be removed individually as said above.
The Renault Triber is underpinned by the CMF-A platform. It comes powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 71 BHP @ 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. Renault will also add a turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine to the Triber line-up later. Expect Renault Triber prices to be Rs. 5 lakh upwards.
