A prototype for the next-generation 2020 Mahindra Thar test mule, equipped with an automatic transmission, has been spotted making rounds on round for the first time.
A 6-speed automatic gearbox is likely to be offered as a diesel engine option, which could be a 2.2-litre BS6-compliant model. In addition, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is also expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Both engines could have a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
The next-generation 2020 Thar is expected to be larger than the outgoing model, but is expected to retain its classic design. In addition, spy photos have shown that the car is likely to have LED tail lights and that hard top and soft top options are expected to be available.
The automatic version shown in this video appears to have an all-black interior. It has a multi-function steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a center MID. The 2020 Mahindra Thar also has a cruise control system.
