British-manufacturer MINI are bound to launch their SUV, the Countryman in India at the end of 2018. Now, BMW, the patent company of Mini have revealed that the Countryman will be made in India. This would come under the banner of “MAKE-IN-INDIA” introduced by the government a couple of years ago.
Coming to your Countryman, it will be the biggest Mini yet and measures about 4.4 m in length. It has a boot space of 470-litres, and is also high on practicality as well. Mini recently showcase the new Countryman at the 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, giving us the hint that this may the SUV which will be localised here.
The Mini Countryman boasts the features like round consoles, iDrive infotainment system, old school dials and so on. As far as engine is concerned, the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder unit will be the only one arriving here. This turbocharged motor will be capable of producing 112 BHP of power and 270 and Nm of torque.
It will come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with manual on the cards as well. The Countryman will be a based on the UKL platform, which underpins the BMW X1. Mini will give the Countryman a 2WD system, though there is no information on the rest yet.
It may be priced around Rs. 40-45 lakhs. This will be closely price with its rivals in the form of the Mercedes GLA and Audi Q3. As of now the current Countryman sold here is available as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
