REPORT: Honda X-Blade to undergo a minor facelift for this festive season

Honda motorcycle and scooter India (HMSI) are planning on giving their affordable performance commuter, the X-Blade, a facelift soon. The facelift will include minor changes in detailing and new paint schemes. Honda is expected to introduce the facelifted X-Blade during the upcoming festive season.

The Honda X-Blade now on-sale is already packed with attractive features such as full-LED headlight, LED tail lamp, digital instrument console and a hazard light function.

The X-Blade has had its fair share of ups and downs since its launch last-year. Unveiled first at the 2018 Auto Expo, Honda launched the X-Blade soon afterwards. Initial sales were good but the X-Blade experienced a bit of drop in demand during the last quarter of 2018.

Sales this year have been decent, but given the launch of an established rival like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the X-Blade has been feeling the heat. As a result, Honda will introduce the X-Blade facelift with new colour schemes and graphics. Mechanically, there are no changes expected to take place on the X-Blade whatsoever.

The upcoming Honda X-Blade won’t get any mechanical changes with the 2019 upgrade.

It will come powered by the same 162cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine is capable of doing 14 BHP of power along with 13.9 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The mechanical specifications will remain unaltered.

The X-Blade is sold at a price from Rs. 81,068 onwards (ex-showroom). When launched, the facelifted X-Blade will rival the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the Suzuki Gixxer. Honda have been able to bold its own in the 150cc premium commuter segment and will hope that the facelifted X-Blade will bring some joy back.
